About

I have an M.F.A. in dance teaching and administration from the University of California, Irvine, 1993. My B.A. in English Literature from Wittenberg University, with an emphasis in music and dance, was in 1986. After graduate school, I accepted a position on the entertainment production team of Princess Cruises, creating and re-staging the production shows for the fleet. Next, I decided to move closer to my Ohio family in the Midwest to work at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1994 for only a year before returning to SOCAL to explore things like a T.E.S.O.L. certification and also the choice that helped me get my first Adjunct classes at ELAC: American Council on Exercise (A.C.E.) group fitness instructor certification.

In 1996, because of my Masters in dance and my A.C.E.  certification, I was given my first Step Aerobics class at ELAC! Until May 2024, I was also an Instructor Special Assignment as a P.O.C.R. (Peer Online Course Review) Lead and a Campus SLO Facilitator. Many people know that I was the coordinator of learning outcomes assessment at ELAC for nearly a decade; I worked with the learning assessment office since 2013. I have also worked as an adjunct instructor of Dance Techniques at other Los Angeles area colleges, including UC Irvine, Pierce College, Valley College, West LA College, and Mt. San Antonio College since 1996. For a brief time, I was the distance education coordinator for ELAC from September 2024 to February 2025.

For the Dance Department at ELAC, I continue to teach Yoga, and in Fall 2024, I returned to the classroom to teach Salsa Casino again. Ask me about joining us on Fridays for Salsa class! I feel lucky to have visited 42 countries since my time with Princess Cruises. I love to travel someplace new each year for my Birthday in October.
