Self-Reflections
Ongoing Assignment
Yoga and Salsa face-to-face classes must complete several Google forms throughout the semester, as well as an ongoing Journal Assignment. Please see the tabs in the menu above for the different assignments, also listed with links below:

-
Syllabus Survey (Due the First Day of class)
-
Peer Review Third Exam (Due during the week 12 exam)
-
Peer Review Final Exam (Due during the Final exam)
-
Self-Reflections (Due during each exam)
Self Reflections
-
This is an Activities Course and a high level of Participation (70% or more) is essential to Pass the course. Participation is measured by Attendance & Self-Reflections, which should be collected in a journal weekly and are due at the time of each Exam.
-
Each written self-reflection submission counts for two "days" of Participation credit.
-
In each Module, you will develop the skills and practical knowledge necessary to continue to practice Yoga on a regular basis anywhere.
-
Reflecting on your Yoga practice helps you focus on the development of the body/mind with specific Yoga postures, breathing techniques, change of habit practices, and relaxation exercises to obtain greater concentration, self-discipline, and improved physical, mental, and emotional health.
-
You are encouraged to reflect on your personal developments after every practice session; once-per-module is required.
-
The written self reflections help you also to articulate terminology directly related to this type of dance technique and recognize the qualities as related to the five components which make this type of dance technique uniquely different from other types, and each one counts for two "days" of Participation credit.
-
I possibly leave comments in the comments area, as needed.

What is Your Journal?
(Written Self-Reflections)

( DUE on the day of each Exam: Weeks 4, 8, 12, and 16)

An Authentic Assessment:

"An instructor-designed situation where students are asked to demonstrate meaningful application of essential knowledge and skills.”
*10 points of your Final Grade.
Outcome: Students will identify and articulate an understanding of terminology and concepts directly related to this type of dance technique.
Exercise: Journals will play an important role in the learning process; they will be a place where each student will record material discussed and practiced in class with personal thoughts and reflections on the process of learning the Codified Dance Curriculum.
Keep a journal in a college-ruled composition book answering the set of standard questions every class day:
1. What new patterns did we learn?
2. What was the best thing about class today?
3. What could you, the student, have done better today?
4. What could the teacher have done better today?
Begin your Journal Today, only in the demonstrated
Composition book (in any color).
Keep a Journal in this authentic manner; the Journal Composition Book is the actual assignment and mode of Submission.
Please follow the instructed Model for Reflective Writing for this class:
-
Look Back on today's Class
-
1.What new patterns did we learn?
-
Description, interpretation, outcome
-
-
-
Analyze What Happened
-
2. What was the best thing about class today?
-
Description, interpretation, outcome
-
-
-
What Does it Mean to You?
-
3. What could you, the student, have done better today?
-
4. What could the teacher have done better today?
-
Description, interpretation, outcome
-
-
For each, number 1 thru 4 provide a Description, Interpretation and Outcome as you look back, analyze and discuss what it means to YOU. In this way, you will provide a substantial Journal entry for every class day, your grade will reflect the high value of this assignment, and your performance in class will literally reflect your "reflection."
